Where the Smart Protector 200 fits in the HCL Smart® Protector range is defined by one specification: 11mm control lines. Larger in bore than the 1/4" cables the 100 Type protects, 11mm hydraulic control lines appear widely in subsea and downhole completions where greater flow rates or line pressures require the larger diameter — and the 200 Type is configured specifically to hold and protect these cables within the restricted annular clearances, across all coupling types and tubing diameters, that define downhole deployment. The patented dual-function design — developed in co-operation with Shell and used by HCL across the full Smart® Protector series — holds the cable against the tubing and protects it from abrasion and physical damage simultaneously, eliminating the separate components that a standard clip-and-protector system would require at each point. Permanently attached using Smart Band or Smart Tie. Four polymer grades address different chemical and temperature profiles: PA66 for standard conditions, PA12 for long-life subsea, PK for H2S and hydrocarbon chemical resistance, and PPS for elevated-temperature downhole environments where standard Nylon grades fall short. Also applied in offshore marine structure and telecommunications and industrial cable management applications wherever a non-conductive, chemically resistant, low-profile cable holder is required.
