Ideal Tridon Clamps

Ideal Tridon Clamps: A Century of Wide-Range Clamping Solutions

The Ideal Tridon Group is a global leader in hose clamp and fastening engineering with a history spanning over a century. Formed through the merger of Ideal Clamp Products (founded 1913, USA) and Tridon Limited (founded 1923, Canada), the group operates manufacturing facilities across North America, Europe, and Asia and supplies billions of clamps annually to automotive, marine, industrial, and consumer markets worldwide. Their commitment to patented innovation — Flex-Gear®, SmartSeal®, WaveSeal 360®, Pow'r-Gear® — alongside rigorous ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 quality management positions them as a primary OEM supplier for demanding global applications.

HCL Fasteners stocks Ideal Tridon products from several categories for the European market — available from the Tridon brand collection. For information specific to Tridon (Europe) — the European manufacturing and distribution entity headquartered in Gorredijk, Netherlands — see our dedicated Tridon (Europe) brand guide.

The Ideal Tridon Product Range

Worm Gear Clamps — Standard, Micro-Gear, Hy-Gear®, and Combo-Hex

Ideal Tridon's worm drive range covers the full spectrum from compact small-bore connections to heavy industrial applications:

  • Micro-Gear (5/16"): Compact 5/16" band worm drive covering 8–89mm — small-diameter fuel lines, vacuum hoses, and instrument connections where standard 9mm or 12mm band clamps are too bulky. 301SS band, 302SS screw. See our miniature clamps guide for full small-bore selection context.
  • Hy-Gear® (9/16"): Heavy-gauge 9/16" (approx. 14mm) band worm drive for demanding industrial and heavy-duty automotive connections where higher band strength is required. Available in 300 series stainless from the Tridon range.
  • Combo-Hex: Dual-driver screw head (hex and slotted) for installation flexibility where access for a specific tool type cannot be guaranteed. Available in 201 stainless steel — note: 201SS uses manganese in place of some nickel, providing lower corrosion resistance than 304SS (W4); appropriate for general indoor and protected applications.

Constant Tension Clamps — Flex-Gear® and Spring-Loaded

Ideal Tridon's constant tension range is engineered to maintain consistent clamping force through thermal cycling and hose material creep — the primary engineering advantage over fixed worm drive clamps in automotive cooling, HVAC, and industrial thermal cycling applications. See our constant tension clamps guide for full application and mechanism explanation.

  • Flex-Gear®: Incorporates Belleville spring washers within the screw assembly — providing active spring compensation for hose diameter changes from thermal cycling and cold flow. Available in 301SS with various liner options from the constant tension range.
  • Spring-Loaded T-Bolt: Constant tension T-bolt variant combining the high clamping force of a T-bolt design with spring compensation — for large-diameter high-pressure connections subject to thermal cycling where a spring worm drive cannot provide adequate force.

T-Bolt Clamps — Standard, Channel Bridge, and Pow'r-Gear®

Ideal Tridon's T-bolt range provides the maximum clamping force for large-diameter, high-pressure, and high-vibration applications where standard worm drive clamps are insufficient. See our T-bolt clamps guide for selection between Tridon and Mikalor Supra specifications.

  • Channel Bridge T-Bolt: The vibration-resistant T-bolt design stocked at HCL — 301SS band, galvanised screw, 35–186mm. Note: galvanised screw is a mixed-grade specification — appropriate for protected and dry environments; for wet, outdoor, or marine applications specify the all-316SS Mikalor Supra W5.
  • Pow'r-Gear®: Maximum band tension worm drive engineered for resistance to slippage under high pressure — a heavy-duty worm drive format for applications requiring higher force than standard ASFA clamps but where T-bolt geometry is not specified.

Specialty Clamps — SmartSeal®, WaveSeal 360®, and Lined

  • SmartSeal®: Patented hybrid design providing enhanced 360° sealing — band geometry penetrates deeper into the hose wall for a more secure grip on heavy-duty applications. Available from the Tridon range.
  • WaveSeal 360®: Bead-lined constant tension worm drive — combines the hose-protection of an inner liner with constant tension spring compensation for heavy-duty thermally cycling applications. See our lined clamps guide for liner material selection.
  • Lined Worm Drive (Pow'r-Gear lined): Inner liner protects soft silicone and EPDM hoses from perforated band contact — distributing clamping force over a smooth liner surface rather than the band perforations.

Quick Release Worm Drive

The Tridon Quick Release Worm Gear Clamp in 304SS covers 25–750mm with a hinged band design allowing lateral removal without sliding the clamp along the hose — the essential specification for maintenance-access connections on fixed fittings. See our quick release clamps guide.
