Why T-Bolt Clamps Outperform Worm Drive at High Pressure
The fundamental engineering difference between T-bolt and worm drive clamp designs is in how closing force is generated:
- Worm drive: The screw engages the perforated band through a worm gear — the closing force is limited by the friction interface between screw thread and band perforations. The perforated band is inherently weaker than a solid band at equivalent gauge. Maximum clamping force is constrained by these two design factors.
- T-bolt: A solid band is closed directly by the T-bolt and nut — the full mechanical advantage of the bolt torque is applied directly to closing the band, with no friction-limited intermediate mechanism. The solid band is significantly stronger than a perforated band at equivalent gauge. Result: substantially higher maximum clamping force and more uniform radial pressure distribution around the hose circumference.

Tridon Vibration-Resistant Channel Bridge T-Bolt — Wide Diameter Range
The Tridon Vibration-Resistant Channel Bridge T-Bolt covers 35–186mm in a channel bridge design — a different T-bolt geometry that uses a bridge element to distribute bolt closing force across a wider section of the band, reducing stress concentration at the bolt engagement point under high vibration loads.
Important material note: The Tridon vibration-resistant T-bolt clamp uses a 301SS band with a galvanised steel screw — a mixed-material specification. 301SS (slightly lower nickel content than 304SS) provides the band corrosion resistance; the galvanised screw will corrode before the band in wet or outdoor environments, and may seize during maintenance re-tightening. Selection Criteria
