ICCP — Impressed Current Cathodic Protection — is the active electrochemical system that prevents corrosion on offshore jetties, marine structures, and submerged assets by passing a controlled electrical current through the structure. The cables that carry this current to the anodes must be managed and protected on the structure itself, and the cable protector used must be completely non-conductive — a metallic clip or tie at the cable attachment point would short the cathodic protection circuit and compromise the integrity of the entire system. The Smart Protector 500 Type from HCL is the specified solution — a patented, non-conductive polymer cable holder and protector configured for ICCP cable routing on offshore structures, jetties, and marine assets, where both non-conductivity and resistance to the saltwater, UV, and mechanical exposure of a permanently installed marine environment are simultaneous specification requirements. Permanently attached using Smart Band or Smart Tie — fully non-metallic and non-conductive from protector to attachment throughout the system. Four polymer grades match different temperature and chemical profiles: PA66 for standard service, PA12 for long-life marine immersion, PK for H2S and chemical exposure, and PPS for elevated-temperature environments. Applied equally in telecommunications infrastructure and industrial cable management wherever a non-conductive, high-performance polymer cable protector is the correct specification over conventional metallic alternatives.
